Easy Ways to Relieve Your Anxiety

Easy Ways to Relieve Your Anxiety

It’s easy to feel stuck and unsure of how to feel better when anxiety kicks in. Sometimes, a person suffering from an anxiety attack might even do things that unwittingly fuel it all the more. So the question is, how can one get rid of anxiety attack immediately?

As a well-known facility that offers counseling services in Ohio, we can share with you some useful and easy ways to cope. But before applying these tips, remember that sometimes, urgent medical help might be necessary if your case worsens.

Master your breathing. In order to re-ground yourself to the present, take a deep breath. Deep diaphragmatic breathing is a very powerful anxiety-reducing technique because it activates the body’s natural relaxation response. Try to slowly inhale for four seconds, filling your belly and then your chest, hold it in for the next four seconds, and slowly exhale for another four seconds. Repeat this several times. It is also important to accept that you are anxious and that your brain is responsible for your anxiety attack. You can also use a calming visualization during the process.

By the time you are relieved, refocus. Focus on the present. Do so by focusing more on meaningful activities in the long run. Practicing these steps can help but consulting a professional that provides mental health therapy can do wonders as well.

If you need help in dealing with an anxiety attack, but unable to meet our professionals in person, you may also enlist in our telehealth therapy.

However, when you are diagnosed with substance abuse disorder and that your anxiety attacks may be linked to it, our professionals here at WCAP Counseling will support your recovery. Trust that we can be your dependable provider of professional substance abuse counseling in Reynoldsburg, Ohio.
